As we filled our plates with pancakes and lemon tarts at the breakfast table, we exchanged uneasy looks with each other, not knowing what the CMU orientation held for us. This was our first day at CMU and the orientation was just about to start. As I sat and ate my breakfast, I wondered if there was going to be a boring lecture at the beginning or something else.

 

 

And then, all of a sudden, we heard someone shouting at the top of his voice, “TAAARRRTAANNSS”, followed by a huge roar, “DHUP” “DHUP” “HAWWW”. And again! And again! Until each and every freshman present in CMU was a part of this cheer. That is how our orientation began. At that moment, every freshman in CMU knew that the next four days were going to be full of fun and surprises.

 

 

The orientation team led by the HOCs, consisted of sophomores, juniors, seniors, and even some of the CMU graduates. They had planned for us so many activities for the next few days that it is difficult to even remember all of them. Some of the highlights of the CMU orientation included the Tribe Experience, the Scavenger Hunt, the flash mob (my personal favorite!), the short skits, lightening the lamps, and of course the free FOOD :).

  

CMU Orientation 2012 offered way more than I expected. It was a truly wonderful experience, something more than just a memory, something I will always remember!
