The Student Engineers' Council at TAMUQ organized its first major event of the semester, Future A&M Engineers (FAME), on January 27^th, 2011. FAME is a one-day conference where high school students studying in Qatar visit Texas A&M and experience the college life for a day. The purpose of this event is:

• To make students aware of the world class education available in Doha

• To motivate students to apply to TAMUQ after graduating from high school

As the Chairperson of FAME, it was my responsibility to plan and run the event. My committee and I met regularly to decide how the event would be scheduled.  It was our goal to provide visiting students with a balance of fun and learning.  The biggest challenge was getting a mixed group of students from a variety of Arabic, Indian and international schools together at FAME.  We targeted 11^th grade students to give them enough time to consider applying to Texas A&M as their first choice. The event was a success as 64 students from Qatar Academy, Amna Bint Wahab Girls School, Al Jazeera Academy, Al Khor International School and Birla Public School attended FAME.
