Today Northwestern enjoys a position as one of America’s elite universities and is among the most selective and highly ranked in the U.S.and across the world.   In 2008, Northwestern partnered with Qatar Foundation to bring the University’s history of excellence and award-winning facultyto Doha, Qatar.

At its campus in Education City, Northwestern University in Qatar(NU-Q)offers programs of study in media, preparing students for professional and leadership roles in the digital marketplace for global media and entertainment.  Students at NU-Q may earn a Bachelor of Science degree in journalism or communication.  Both programs incorporate a foundation of liberal arts and sciences that is integralto an elite Northwestern education. 

The NU-Q journalism programprepares students to work in journalism and related fields as producers, writers, reporters, editors, photographers or public relations professionals.  Students learn by doing the same work journalists around the world do – they find and cultivate sources and produce content for print, web, and television. The program is offered by Northwestern’s renowned Medill Schoolof Journalism, Media, Integrated Marketing Communication.

Focusing on media industries and technologies, the NU-Q communication programprepares students to work in film, advertising, television and entertainment as media executives, screenwriters, directors, policy makers or media analysts. Students learn the theory and history of various communication industries and explore creative production and technology. The program is offered by Northwestern’s highly regarded School of Communication.
