SUSTAINABLE LIVING AMBASSADORS

Sustainable Living Ambassadors (SLAs) are Education City students that work five hours a week to educate EC students about topics related to sustainability. SLAs are employed by EC to educate students about resource efficiency, ethical and responsible purchasing, and the impact of their choices on the environment and community. Students interested in applying to be Sustainable Living Ambassadors should visit http://tech4work.com/.

Sustainable Living Ambassadors assist with Recyclemania in the residence halls, EC’s Earth Hour, the annual EC Sustainability Awards Night, and other sustainability programs throughout Education City. This year, Sustainable Living Ambassadors will also create a “green certification” program to recognize the behaviors and practices of students, departments, and programs throughout campus. Additionally, SLAs will have the opportunity to network with other members of the community doing sustainability work and refine their professional and personal skills.

Consideration of applications for the SLA position will begin after September 10, 2011. Candidates selected for interviews will be contacted in mid-September, and students hired as SLAs should plan to begin working on Saturday, September 24, 2011. Attendance at weekly staff meetings is mandatory. Staff meetings will be held at 5:30 PM every Wednesday in the fall semester, and the start time will be adjusted so meetings will not conflict with prayer times.

For more information about the SLA position or the application process, please e-mail Christopher Silva, Sustainability Education Coordinator, at .
