Campus traditions and annual events serve as significant rites of passage for all college students. Not only do they communicate what the community values but also signal the passing of annual milestones during the academic year. Campus traditions and annual events seek to cultivate community, reinforce identity, and contribute to the unique Education City experience. While the Education City community is still very young, we are already developing campus traditions and annual events anticipated by students, faculty, and staff alike.
Ya Hala
Ya Hala, which translates to 'welcome' in Arabic, is the annual finale of international and university orientations for all first-year Education City college students. It is a celebrative event to kick-off the academic year that features speakers, skits, food, giveaways, music and more. Ya Hala's key message to incoming students is that in addition to their respective campuses, they are a part of the larger Education City community.
International Fest
This annual international initiative seeks to promote the exchange of knowledge, ideas, and culture. International Fest is sponsored by the Education City Student Life Committee comprised of QF Campus Life staff members and representatives from each of our university partners and ABP.
EC Family Day
Education City Family Day is sponsored by QF Campus Life in partnership with all of our university partners and the Academic Bridge Program (ABP). Entitled “A Day in the Life of a College Student”, this event invites parents of current Education City students to learn more about their son or daughter’s experiences and opportunities inside and outside the classroom.
