Reach Out To Asia (Rota) chairperson HE Sheikha Mayassa bint Hamad al-Thani will open the Third Annual Empower National Youth Conference which begins today at the Qatar Foundation Student Centre.
Against a background of youth leading change across the Arab world, Empower 2011 will unfold with an intellectual, stimulating panel discussion on issues concerning the youth of Qatar. During the debate, 300 participants will have the opportunity to develop their leadership skills and test their social networking abilities by contributing to the roundtable discussion and Q&A session.
“All over the Arab world we are witnessing change brought about by the determination of youth. Empower aims to get Qatar’s youth involved with making a difference and inspires young leaders to change their communities and their world,” said Rota director Essa al-Mannai.
Other highlights in a three-day conference programme designed to inspire, challenge and reward active participation include seminar panel discussions, keynote speeches, lectures, small group workshops, and off-site visits.
“Empower 2011 encourages the youth to pursue being the best they can be through proactive, responsible leadership, and inspires delegates that in order to become a leader they must understand the world around them,” added Mohamed Saleh, community development manager.
