Georgetown University School of Foreign Service in Qatar celebrated its second annual Georgetown Day last Thursday. Georgetown Day is a university-wide celebration of the campus community and more than 100 members of Georgetown staff, faculty and students along with their families attended this year’s event.

Brendan Hill, Director of Students’ Affairs, commented: “We love bringing together the Georgetown family and engaging the community to celebrate student life within our Qatar campus.”

Georgetown Day is a full-day event that is held a week before finals every year.  This year’s festivities included games, a carnival-themed bouncy castle, popcorn, barbecue and a host of other youth-friendly activities.

“Georgetown Day is a tradition for Georgetown University from the main campus. It’s always on the last day of classes; it’s a fun day full of events for students and faculty staff to come and enjoy this last day. It has multiple fun events for kids and grown-ups and there’s also barbecue and food. It is perhaps a last chance for us all to mingle with one another before the stress of exams and a long summer break,” AbdulRahman Nassar, a senior student at SFS-Qatar.

Manal Shkifi, another senior at SFS-Qatar, concluded: “It’s a day that the staff and the students all really enjoy; the staff actually cook for the students. It’s a carnival-themed day and it’s filled with games and prizes. It’s just a perfect way to end the semester.”
