Qatar Green Building Council (QGBC) is co-hosting an open day of seminars and lectures on ‘Sustainability in Practice,’ extending Earth Day celebrations.
The open day event will take place tomorrow at the Qatar Foundation Student Centre, Cinema Venue, from 9am to 2pm.
The ‘Sustainability in Practice’ event, with a diverse agenda of activities, will provide a highly stimulating and informative platform aiming to enrich the dialogue on sustainability and its practices.
The seminar will be led by Mohamed Jaber, head of QGBC Educational Committee and head of Electrical Engineering, KEO. The event will host presentations from a number of distinguished professional and academic experts on sustainability, including Ewan Crosbie, RWDI, Tim Makower, Allies and Morrisson and Qatar University (QU), Esam Elsarrag, BQDRI, Fodil Fadli and Ashraf Salama from QU.
The QU Architecture students are also set to present and discuss an innovative studio project they have been working on titled ‘Shading Devices and Systems’.
This event is the latest in the series of joint QGBC and Qatar University activities, promoting, as part of the MOU signed between the two entities in October 2010, green building and sustainability awareness and knowledge among the youth and student community in Qatar.
The highly anticipated event will be Qatar’s participation in the celebrations hosted throughout the week by the green building councils all around the world to reflect the shared commitment to positively transforming building practices and developing sustainable communities.
Admission is free to all interested organisations and individuals; participants are encouraged to secure entry by registering through the QGBC official website www.qatargbc.org or emailing QGBC at
