Doha: In line with the Ministry of Interior’s plan to expand its security and service facilities to all over the country, the Education City Civil Defence Centre was opened yesterday. The new centre will serve the Education city and adjacent areas and it possesses the latest equipment and machines in the field of civil defence and fire fighting.

 

After the inauguration, director general of General Directorate of Civil Defence (GDCD) Staff Brigadier Abdullah Muhammed Al Suwaidi took the guests for a tour of the facilities at the centre. The guests were introduced to the services provided, equipment available and the mechanism of the work for responding emergency calls in coordination with operations room.

Speaking on the occasion, the Director of Logistics Department of the Ministry of Interior (MoI) Brigadier Engineer Abdul Azeez Al Ansari said that the opening of new premises comes as part of a series of projects carried out by the ministry in recent years.“The coming months will witness opening of many new premises for different departments of the Ministry such as Information Systems Department, Drug Enforcement Administration, Al Rayyan Security Department, Al Zubara Complex, Mukainis Centre and headquarters for Civil Defence as well as new service centers and security complexes”, Brigadier Al Ansari said. On his part Brigadier Abdullah Al Suwaidi said that the GDCD is moving ahead with its development plan as per the growth and upsurge witnessed by the country.

 

“The Civil Defence at Education City covers the city and the adjacent areas such as Bani Hajar, Izghawa and Nasirya as well it will support the Umm Salal and Aziziya Civil Defence Centers”, he said. He also added that the opening of new premises was result of constructive partnership between the MoI and the Education City .

 

The member of Central Municipal Council (CMC) Mohammed Saleh Al Khayareen thanked the Ministry for the facilities provided by it as it meets the requirements of the inhabitants of the area. The director of security and safety at Qatar Foundation (QF) Abdullah Al Jumua Al Mudaihiki said that the QF is keen to cooperate with the community and this Centre is result of fruitful cooperation between the QF and the MoI.
