The Qatar 2022 Supreme Committee announced on Monday that the stadium would be constructed in partnership with Qatar Foundation at Education City, and added that five other stadium developments are currently undergoing a tender process, the Arabian Business website reported. The first venue is set to be completed by 2015, but the “master schedule” for all stadium construction projects will be revealed “in due course after consultation with FIFA,” the Committee added.

Tenders for project management and design consultancy services for the Al Wakrah Stadium have been issued and the winners will be announced by the end of this year. The project management tender for redevelopment work at Al Rayyan Stadium has also been issued and the contract is expected to be awarded in the first quarter of next year.

In other news, the Qatar 2022 Supreme Committee signed stakeholder co-operation agreements with Qatar Rail, Ashghal, Kahramaa, Aspire Zone Foundation and Qatari Diar. Committee secretary general Hassan Al Thawadi said: “The signing of the stakeholder cooperation agreements with our local stakeholders is a symbol of the unity that exists in Qatar in relation to successfully delivering the Middle East's first FIFA World Cup. We will be signing more agreements in the near future to further unify local entities behind our common goal.”
