DOHA: Qatar Academy recently delivered 11 new wheelchairs for the use of patients cared for under Hamad Medical Corporation’s home healthcare programme. The wheelchairs were delivered by Dana Al Enzi, a Qatar Academy student, and teachers Munira Al Sheikh and Anne Mary during a visit to Home Healthcare Services (HHCS) department at Hamad Medical City.

Receiving the donation, head of Home Healthcare Services Vicki Alexandra Scruby and other department staff expressed their gratitude to the Qatar Academy students for their humanitarian gesture.

The students’ contribution was especially welcome as the wheelchairs will provide immense support for patients in need of such mobility aids.

Dana Al Enzi, who proposed the idea of the donation to her classmates, said that she received a prompt and positive response from her peers who were all keen to support this initiative. “Qatar Academy students are always leading efforts to contribute in all social and charitable activities and strongly support HMC’s social programmes,” said Al Enzi.

She added that Qatar Academy students regularly visit children hospitalised in HMC wards and help to organise recreational programmes with the assistance of occupational therapists from Hamad General Hospital.
